Peru celebrates National Alpaca Day
The Andean camelid (Vicugna pasco) has inhabited Peru’s mountainous
regions since pre-Incan times, grazing on pastures at altitudes of 3,500
to 4,500 meters above sea level.
Thanks to its wool, made of silky soft fibers with thermal properties, it can withstand temperatures ranging from minus 20 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius. Their coats vary from light beige to dark, and cover 30 different shades.
